Description
Description
The Common Olive is a classic Mediterranean tree that adds elegance and beauty to any Southern California landscape. It can grow up to 30 feet tall and has a slender trunk with silvery-gray bark. Its narrow, evergreen leaves contain rich hues of green and silver. The tree produces small, fragrant, creamy-white flowers in the spring, followed by small green fruit in the fall. Its drought-tolerant and striking nature make it a popular choice for both ornamental and practical purposes.
Care Instructions
Care Instructions
Plant in a sunny location with well-draining soil. Water deeply once or twice a week during the first year to establish a deep root system, and then reduce watering to once or twice a month. Fertilize in the spring with a balanced fertilizer, and prune in the late winter or early spring to control its size and shape. Olive trees are generally low-maintenance, but keep an eye out for sneaky pests like scale and mites! Enjoy the delicious fruit it produces, which can be harvested in the fall when fully ripe.
